Privacy Policy
Effective date: 3 October 2026
Doze is a browser extension that unloads idle tabs from memory. It has no account, does not connect to the developer’s servers, and does not sell data. Browsing history, page content, and form data are not sent anywhere.
Data that stays on your computer
The following stays in the browser’s local storage for this extension:
- Your settings and whitelist.
- How many times tabs have slept, and the estimated memory saved each time. That figure is an estimate, not an exact Task Manager number.
- How often each domain was opened in the last 14 days, and when. This is used to wait longer on sites you return to. It is not a full browsing history.
- The page address, scroll position, and text in ordinary fields from before a tab slept, so Doze can try to restore them. Only a limited number of these snapshots are kept. Closing the tab deletes that page’s snapshot.
- Whether a tab is playing, whether the page changed, and the original tab title. These last only for the current browser session and are deleted when the tab closes.
Passwords, card numbers, hidden fields, and file pickers are not saved.
What Doze does not do
- It does not ask you to register or sign in.
- It does not upload, sync, or sell the data above.
- It does not show ads, and it does not load third-party analytics or remote code.
- It cannot see each tab’s exact Task Manager usage. The system-memory permission reads only this computer’s available and total memory. By default Doze sleeps on the idle-minute timer you set and does not use a memory percentage. That reading is not uploaded.
Why these permissions
- Tabs: to see which pages are idle, playing, or already asleep, and to unload memory when the timer is up. Tabs are not closed.
- Website access: to remember scroll position and ordinary text before sleep, and to write them back when the page reopens. Passwords are not read.
- Downloads: only to see whether a download is in progress, so that tab is not unloaded. Files are not opened or read.
- System memory: only to read available and total memory on this computer.
How long it is kept, and how to delete it
Domain open counts are kept for 14 days. Closing a tab deletes that page’s scroll and text snapshot. Settings can export or reset the statistics. Uninstalling the extension makes the browser clear this local data. There is no server copy to delete separately.
